Zimone has many years of corporate leadership experi- ence and has been active in the SVC as a director (2000- 2002 and 2003-2006), co-chair of the strategic planning committee (2008), vice president (2007-2009), president (2009-2011) and past president (2011-2013), and on the awards committee (2016-2017). A fellow of Alpha Sigma Mu of the National Honor Society for Materials Engineering and most recently president of Jenoptik Advanced Systems, Zimone has been tasked by the board to strengthen the SVC's structure and focus on enhancing value to its diverse stakeholder base. "Frank will be forming and leading the team that will bring management of all SVC activities in house for the first time in SVC history," says Gary Vergason of Vergason Technology, president of the SVC. "The board believes that bringing these activities in house is essential for the SVC to drive organizational effectiveness, cost optimization and stakeholder support to the levels that are required to support the SVC's strategic plan to become the global source for learning, applying and advanc- ing vacuum coating, surface engineering and related technologies." Zimone and his team will be responsible for optimizing the TechCon exhibition's structure and education program, along with building the SVC's online presence and marketing efforts. Platform Specialty Products Breaks Off MacDermid Unit Platform Specialty Products is separating its holdings into agricultural solutions and performance solutions segments, creating MacDermid Performance Solutions, which encompasses acquisitions it has made over the years, including Enthone and OMG Electronic Chemicals. Based in Waterbury, Connecticut, MacDermid has more than 4,000 employees in 50 countries serving the electronics, graphic arts, metal and plastic plating, off- shore oil production, and drilling markets. "Following a strategic review and discussions with our management teams, we believe the best way to maximize long-term value for our shareholders is by separating our Agricultural Solutions business as a standalone public company," says Chairman Martin E. Franklin. "We are fortu- nate to have two very high-quality businesses serving two very different market segments in the specialty chemicals industry." In 2012, Alpha Assembly Materials and Enthone broke away from Cookson to form Alent, which, along with OMG, then was acquired by Platform Specialty Products, MacDermid's parent company.
