Finland's Carbodeon worked with Germany's CCT Plating to
develop an electroless nickel, PTFE and nanodiamond compos-
ite coating with improved abrasive wear properties, combining
high wear resistance with low friction in both adhesive and
abrasive conditions.
According to Carbodeon, electroless nickel-PTFE (EN-PTFE)
coatings provide excellent anti-adhesive and low friction
properties, but are traditionally soƞ and wear quickly in abra-
sive conditions. Adding nanodiamond particles improves the
coatings' abrasive wear resistance without compromising the
sliding or release properties, the company says.
Target applications include automotive components, plastic
molds, military applications, and printing and textile produc-
tion equipment and machinery. The nanomaterial is available
from Carbodeon for addition to existing EN-PTFE systems.
Alternatively, job plating or turnkey solutions can be carried out
by CCT Plating.
