Abstracts must be submitted by the last business day in April to allow time to develop the final paper for publication in the proceedings. Atotech Acquires Pegastech Plating on Plastics Technology Atotech acquires plating on plastics technology developed by Pegastech, a French specialty chemicals company. Pegastech has developed a technology for plating on plastics without use of hexavalent chromium or palladium compounds for pretreat- ment of polymers prior to electroplating. The process replaces hazardous chemicals while saving resources, and it is fully compatible with industrial equipment and processing cycles. Product development finalization, testing and launching of the new process is scheduled for later in the year. Axalta Coating Systems to Acquire Century Industrial Coatings Axalta Coating Systems acquires Century Industrial Coatings, a manufacturer of high- performance industrial coatings for structural steel, oil and gas, rail cars and other OEM applica- tions. Century's manufacturing facility is located in Jacksonville, Texas, and supplies products for the U.S. and international markets. Cleaning Experts Come Together to Discuss Forming Industry Association Leaders in industrial cleaning come together before the Parts Cleaning Expo at PMTS to discuss forming a new association dedicated to cleaning technologies and applications. Industry experts will meet at an open round table discus- sion before the start of the trade show on Monday, April 24 at the Columbus Convention Center from 3 to 5 p.m. The goal of the meeting is to consider the feasibility and the overall need for an association focused on the cleaning industry in the U.S. This includes providing educational opportunities, professional networking and further support for the industry's growth. Representatives from German industrial cleaning association, FIT, will present an overview of their organization discussing the association's structure and services. FIT represents suppliers, end users, consultants, scientific institu- tions and trade associations, promoting the general, ideal and economic interests of its members, a mission that the meeting hopes to fully introduce to the U.S. Facilitated by Products Finishing, the meeting is open to all cleaning tech- nology suppliers, end users, academic institutions and all whom have an interest in exploring the creation of such an organization.
