So I've got a couple years of fx-up work." continued from p. 11 AAMA Releases Updated Aluminum Finishes Documents The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA, Schaumburg, Illinois), updated and released two documents specifc to aluminum fnishes: AAMA 612-15 and AAMA 2603-15. AAMA 612 describes test procedures and performance require- ments for architectural quality combined fnishes of anodic oxide sealed with a transparent organic coating, commonly referred to as the "combined coatings," applied to aluminum extrusions and panels for architectural products. Similarly, AAMA 2603 covers procedures and requirements for pigmented organic coatings applied to aluminum extrusions and panels. This standard covers factory-applied coatings only. AkzoNobel Expands Performance Coatings Research Facility in Houston AkzoNobel Performance Coatings, headquartered in Amsterdam, is investing around $3.4 million to expand its research and devel- opment facilities in Houston. The upgraded facility will support the company's Protective Coatings, Marine Coatings and Specialty Coatings businesses. Completion is due in early 2016. "The expanded facility will provide a central, state-of-the- art technical resource for our businesses in the U.S., creating the critical mass for efective R&D; to eficiently support our customers," says RD&I; Director for Protective Coatings Aidan Mernin. The expanded facility will be able to house up to 35 laboratory staf, with 30 skilled technologists initially employed. The facility will include a dedicated area for experimental paint making, a modern paint application laboratory and environmentally controlled drying areas for conditioning test panels. Enhanced chemical resistance testing will also be available to support the Ceilcote and Enviroline linings ranges in North America. N E W S
