PRODUCTS FINISHING — pfonline.com 9 Nordson to Host Hands-On Powder Training Nordson Corp. will hold a hands-on powder coating workshop August 13-14, at its Amherst, Ohio facility. The workshop is designed to be an intensive, introduc- tory seminar on powder coating materials and their applica- tion, troubleshooting and maintenance, as well as to provide hands-on training. Attendees will learn about properties, storage and handling of powder coating materials; application equipment and components, and their use, maintenance and troubleshooting; and powder booth and recovery systems. PF Adds New Financial Finishing Column Products Finishing has launched a new monthly column that focuses on fnan- cial forecasts in the manufacturing and fnishing industry. Steve Kline Jr., a former editor of Products Finishing, will write "Financial Finish" each month. He has been providing fnancial analysis and economic forecasts for PF's parent company, Gardner Business Media, since 2005. His frst column in this magazine was published in May. Kline has a degree in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University and an MBA with an emphasis on fnance from the University of Cincinnati. He says he views forecasting as more of an art than a science. "My analysis focuses on trends between diferent data sets to determine where the economy and, more importantly, the fnishing industry, may be headed," he says. See this month's Financial Finish column on page 52. Palmetto Plating Celebrates 50 Years The Palmetto Plating Co. of Easley, South Carolina, celebrated its 50th anniversary on March 31. Started and still owned by John Cutchin, the company has grown out of its plating "baby shoes" to become a multifac- eted job shop and major player in the Southeastern portion of the United States. It is a major fnisher of stainless steel, anodizing, electroless nickel and many other processes, and its customer base includes the nuclear, automotive, aero- space, and energy industries. Atotech Holds POP Summit for Customers Atotech held its second Plating on Plastics (POP) summit in Rock Hill, South Carolina, on April 15.
