ASSOCIATION DIGEST CCAI Finishing Pavilion at Fabtech Largest Yet Anne Goyer, Executive Director, Chemical Coaters Association International, anne@goyermgt.com With 176 exhibiting companies and more than 7,000 pre-registered attendees who stated that they planned to evaluate finishing technologies, CCAI's Finishing Pavilion and Conference at Fabtech in Chicago last month was the largest since CCAI became a partner in Fabtech four years ago. We were very excited to sell out this year's Finishing Pavilion, and before this year's show concluded, CCAI had already sold a tremendous amount of booth space for Fabtech 2014 next November in Atlanta. We anticipate selling out again in 2014. Companies interested in exhibiting can reserve booth space now. Visit fabtechexpo.com and click Exhibit: Reserve Space. Questions can be directed to Andy Goyer at 941-373-1830. Dave Wright, CCAI Lifetime Achievement Award Winner, Loses Battle with Cancer Longtime CCAI member Dave Wright lost his battle with cancer in October. Dave was a member of the Wisconsin chapter and also served on the national board of directors for many years including terms in all of the officer roles, as well as a two-year role as CCAI's National President. Dave's professional career was spent in pretreatment chemical sales, starting with Texo and concluding with DuBois Chemicals. Dave leaves behind his wife Judy and many friends in Wisconsin and around the country. Dave was a well-respected and well-loved member of the CCAI family for many years. We will all miss him greatly. Sixth Edition Powder Coating Manual Now Available Debuting in CCAI's booth at Fabtech, CCAI's 6th Edition of its popular Powder Coating for Industrial Finishing Applications training manual is now available. This 208-page, spiral-bound manual has been printed in color for the first time. Under the guidance of Editor Jim Gallagher of Harley Davidson, CCAI corporate members contributed new content in every section of the manual. CCAI thanks all who contributed.   CCAI to Add Content to CCAI TV Launched in late 2012, CCAI is set to add to its current educational offerings on CCAI TV. At least seven new presentations will be added by the first of the year. Additionally, CCAI TV now includes corporate member videos. Visit ccaiweb.com, click Education, then CCAI TV. Chapters Offer Educational Opportunities CCAI chapters around the country offer outstanding educational programming throughout the year. Plant tours, educational seminars, lunch and dinner meetings, networking events and more await those striving to continuously improve the products they finish. Visit ccaiweb.com and click Chapters for a list of current chapters and the events they offer. We welcome our newest chapter, Southeast Michigan serving the Greater Detroit area. Watch for programming from them coming in 2014. Announcing the New AAC Blog Rand Baldwin, President, Aluminum Anodizers Council, rbaldwin@tso.net Each month, more than 14,000 unique visitors surf the Aluminum Anodizers Council website, anodizing. org. As President of the council, I am grateful to be associated with such a popular site. What brings so many people to this particular location on the internet? What are they looking for? Well, there is a wealth of information on the usage of anodized aluminum. There are technical bulletins—available for free download—that help anodizers, metallurgists, fabricators and others establish best practices. And then there are hundreds of people that simply have questions of the Council and its members. Now, delivered to members via this website, AAC has launched a new blog that will draw on experts across the industry. The blog posts, brief articles of general interest to those in the industry, are being provided by AAC members and thought leaders in many areas. For example, the new blog has information on: finishing strategies for recycled aluminum; 42 DECEMBER 2013 — pfonline.com tips for minimizing rack marks when anodizing; advantages of using specialized rack materials, such as titanium; meeting the challenges of anodized medical devices; a primer on PH-neutral non-nickel sealants and much more. In addition to technical topics such as these, you'll find instructive blog posts on AAC events like a behind-the-scenes look at aerospace manufacturing, which took place on a tour of the Boeing facilities at a recent AAC conference. Plus, you won't want to miss the heartwarming feature on Dr. Arthur Brace, a legend in our industry and the father of modern anodizing. Thank you to the many volunteers who have helped to make the new AAC blog a reality. And thank you to Products Finishing magazine for help in getting this new service going and helping to spread the word to those who might benefit. I invite you to become one of the thousands of folks who have made visiting anodizing.org a regular habit. While you're online, please browse at leisure and discover the many sources of valuable information available to members and nonmembers alike. All are welcome!
