NEWS FINISHING INDUSTRY ON THE MOVE PPG Industries (Troy, Mich.) has appointed Diane M. Kappas VP, Americas, for the company's protective and marine coatings business. The company also announced that Jane Valenta has been appointed to Kappas' previous role of VP, EHS. Reliant Aluminum Products (High Point, NC) has appointed Jack Bucchi to the role of senior technical sales representative serving anodizing customers in the northeast U.S. Michael Coll has been appointed global product line manager, PCB fnal fnishes by Enthone Inc. (West Haven, Conn.) His predecessor Joseph Renda has assumed the role of director, global OEM marketing. De Nora (Milan, Italy) has signed a joint venture agreement with ThyssenKrupp Uhde, a plant engineering and construction specialist. The companies are planning to combine activities regarding engineering, procurement and construction services for electrolysis plants. Advanced Plasma Technology is Focus of Uyemura Partnership Uyemura International Corp. (Southington, Conn.) and Europlasma NV (Oudenaarde, Belgium) have formed a partnership to bring advanced vacuum plasma treatment technology (Nanofcs) to electronic manufacturing companies and boardmakers in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The immediate focus of this important partnership is twofold: This low pressure plasma technology will allow electronic manufacturing companies to apply conformal coatings to electronic components, and most notably, to fully assembled products such as headsets, hearing aids and mobile phones. It will also provide an efective and cost-eficient surface fnish to protect board surfaces prior to assembly. For this reason, Uyemura says it is an excellent addition to the company's line of fnal fnishes. Europlasma will install its plasma system at the Uyemura Tech Center in Southington, Conn., in late October, and train Uyemura technical staf in system operation. In addition to the application of Nanofcs nanocoating technology, the system will also be used for low pressure plasma cleaning, etching, and activation. Coventya has received hard disc drives manufacturer Western Digital's prestigious 2012 Supplier of the Year award. Metal protection service provider Trutec Industries Inc., and subsidiary MMI-Trutec Inc. (Springfeld, Ohio), have announced the companies will now operate under a new company name of Parker Trutec, at the same time the company will unveil its new logo and website: parkertrutec. com. The company's ownership under Nihon Parkerizing Co., Ltd. remains unchanged as does the company's staf. Uyemura, (Southington, Conn.), has announced three additions to the company's professional staf: Chris Eonta has been appointed director of business development for Northern California, Idaho and Utah. Steve Bednarz has joined Uyemura as technical representative for Arizona, and Jef Rand has joined Uyemura as West Coast technical sales representative, with responsibility for Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. Thermoset and thermoplastic powder coatings developer Protech Chemicals Ltd. of Montreal, Canada, has reached an agreement with NPA Coatings, a subsidiary of Nippon Paints Japan, to acquire Seibert powder coatings business. Protech will continue the manufacturing operations in Cleveland, Ohio.
