NEWs ECOAT14 Conference Program Boasts Timely Speaker Lineup Presented by The Electrocoat Association and Products Finishing magazine, ECOAT14, the industry's foremost electrocoating conference, is scheduled for April 22-24, 2014, at the Rosen Centre Hotel in Orlando. The conference provides attendees the opportunity to stay current with industry trends, discuss what's coming through the legislative pipeline, learn about new technologies and applications, and network with industry colleagues. Keynote speaker Maureen Midgley of Henkel Corp. will present The Chemical Industry's Response to Trends and Innovations in the Transportation Industry. Joy Forsmark of Ford Motor Company Research and Innovation Center continues that theme in her day-two keynote, Adventures in Incorporating Light Metals in Vehicles, which surveys several recent USAMP programs studying corrosion, including one that investigates strategies to incorporate magnesium alloy components into the body-in-white. Each keynote will be followed by additional general sessions before breaking into concurrent workshops in the afernoon. Products Finishing columnist Matt Kirchner of American Finishing Resources will impart his Marketing for E-coaters tips and Axel Linnewerth of PPG Industries will discuss The Impact of REACH Legislation on Electrocoat. Special events include an industry awards banquet, coatings and cocktails, and the exhibit hospitality evening, ofering attendees direct access to suppliers of equipment, chemicals, paint and fnishing applications. Spring Training—Spray Finish Style Finishing Brands: Binks, DeVilbiss, Ransburg, BGK and Owens Community College have teamed up to present a Spray Finishing Technology Workshop. Two Continuing Education Units are awarded for this three-day intensive training program, scheduled for March 5-7, 2014, in Toledo, Ohio. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily and include both classroom and hands-on sessions. Attendees should be involved with industrial, contractor, or maintenance spray fnishing applications, or spray equipment sales and distribution. Covered topics include: equipment types and selection, set-up, operation and maintenance; surface preparation and defect analysis; material selection; and safety and regulatory concerns. The 2013 Inc. 5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2009 with 2012. Dymax's 3-year growth measures 190%. Dürr Expanding North American Market in Mexico Dürr is expanding its capacities in the North American market with a new business location in Querétaro, Mexico, that will house about 280 employees and provide 50 percent more production and ofice space than the past location. "The new plant in Querétaro represents a key mainstay to be able to give the automotive industry even more efective support with its expansion drive in North America," says Ralf W. Dieter, CEO of Dürr AG. "In view of growing sales numbers, the automotive industry in the U.S. and Mexico is increasingly investing in new factories and in modernizing existing production plants." Dürr de México was founded in 1966, and supplied almost all carmakers represented in Mexico with painting technology and other production equipment. For a number of years now, Dürr de México has also participated in handling orders placed by the aircraf industry. The U.S. company, Dürr Systems Inc., and Dürr de México are run by a shared management team. The construction of the new location in Querétaro in central Mexico is part of a global investment program with which Dürr adjusts its capacities in response to the growing volume of business. At the end of September, the Group commissioned a new mechanical engineering location with more than 600 employees in Shanghai. Dürr has also invested in newbuilds or in modernizing locations in Germany, South Africa, Poland, Brazil, and Switzerland. In Japan, a technology center with demonstration facilities is to be built in the near future.
