BECOME A MEMBER AT NASF.ORG NASF Education and Training The NASF and its chapters will host a variety of events this fall and in 2014 to provide an array of learning and networking opportunities for companies and professionals. it's worth trying to make progress to modernize TSCA and that there's still a lot of work to be done. The witnesses and senators at the hearing agreed that TSCA, which became law in 1976 under President Gerald Ford, needs to be updated. After the hearing, Boxer said she hopes to mark up a revised TSCA-reform bill after the August recess when Congress returns in the fall. West Coast Bright Design Challenge Teaming with the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., NASF's West Coast chapters will invite design students to think beyond traditional design theory and bring out their very best creative spirit. The annual West Coast competition of NASF's Bright Design Challenge aims to develop "next-generation" creative and engineering solutions that incorporate various types of surface fnishing coatings. At the conclusion of the program, scholarships will be awarded that are applied directly to students' tuition. For more information on this program, visit the events section on at nasf.org. 2014 Management Conference NASF promotes the health of the surface fnishing industry by ofering educational and networking opportunities for its members. In February, the NASF will conduct its annual Management Conference at the Sheraton Maui on Kaanapali Beach and ofer valuable insight on both operational and regulatory issues afecting the future of surface fnishing. Committee members are currently in the fnal planning process of development for the 2014 conference. To register, visit the events page at nasf.org. 2014 Washington Forum Nominating Committee Seeks Industry Input on NASF Board The NASF Nominating Committee is in the process of identifying candidates for the NASF Board of Directors elections to be held in November. The Nominating Committee is charged with identifying candidates that represent the broad membership of the NASF. If you know of an NASF member who is committed to serving the association and would like to be considered by the Nominating Committee as a potential candidate for the NASF Board of Directors, please submit names to the the chair of the committee, Pat Gleason at patg@microfnishco.com or to Jef Hannapel at jhannapel@thepolicygroup.com by Sept. 15. The NASF Washington Forum is an opportunity for the surface fnishing community to hold key policy discussions with national and international experts, as well as meet with Congress, senior agency ofcials and manufacturing allies. The 2014 event will be held April 8-10, in Washington, D.C. Planning has just begun, but attendees are encouraged to mark their calendars early. As with all NASF events, updates and registration information will be placed on the association's website at nasf.org. NASF SUR/FIN 2014 NASF will hold the 2014 SUR/FIN Manufacturing and Technology Tradeshow & Conference June 9-11 at the new Cleveland Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio. NASF's SUR/FIN is the industry's leading professional conference exclusive to the surface fnishing industry. The 2014 event will mark SUR/FIN's 96th year and will ofer attendees and suppliers an active show foor of exhibits as well as training courses; technical, management and regulatory sessions; and plenty of opportunities to network.
