The Occupational Safety and
Health Administration and the
National Association for Surface
Finishing have developed a manual
to provide practical information
on industry-recommended work
practices to improve safety and
health in metal surface finishing
facilities.
The purpose of the work practices
is to identify potential hazards
associated with metal finishing
operations, as well the precautions
that should be adopted for the
safety and health of all personnel
involved in these processes, NASF's
Christian Richter says.
The manual identifies safe work
practices that may reduce the
potential for exposure to workers. Workplace safety and health
checklists are also provided to
assist owners and operators of
metal finishing facilities in assessing what areas may need to be
addressed to improve workplace
safety and health. In addition, a
list of common OSHA citations
for metal finishing operations is
provided in the manual.
The manual can be downloaded at
nasf.org/pdfs/regulation/nasf-oshasafe-work-practices.pdf.
