Ne w s ON THE MOVE George Koch Sons LLC plans to acquire Price Industries, a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based provider of material handling systems to the global aerospace, automotive, industrial, military and agriculture industries. The company will become part of George Koch Sons and will continue to operate in its existing facilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. It was expected to close at the end of May. Plasmatreat US has acquired California low-pressure (LP) plasma specialist 4th State Inc., whose prime assets include the R2R60, a 60-inch wide continuous roll-to-roll plasma chamber used for the plasma modification of rolled goods including wovens, non-wovens, films, foils and membranes. This is Plasmatreat's second purchase of a LP plasma company, having acquired Plasma Technology Systems in 2011. The company expects to move operations to a new, combined location in the San Francisco Bay area by the end of the third quarter of this year. CGW-Camel Grinding Wheels has acquired Pacific Abrasive Supply Co., a Buena Park, Calif., manufacturer of abrasive belts and other coated abrasive products such as sheets, discs, rolls, pressure-sensitive adhesive products and specialty items. Terms were not disclosed. High Road Capital Partners has completed its acquisition of The Crown Group, a Warren, Mich.-based provider of pre-treatment, acid-cleaning, electrocoating, powder coating, and water-based spray and cavity wax coatings to the automotive, agricultural, heavy truck and other industrial end-markets. It operates seven manufacturing facilities in five states. PPG Industries' industrial coatings business has created a dedicated electronic materials group to integrate products and technologies it acquired from Spraylat Corp. in December. The company now offers a full line of electrically conductive, resistive and dielectric inks and conductive coatings for radiofrequency interference/electromagnetic interference (RFI/EMI) suppression. These inks and coatings are used in such applications as touch-control panels for smartphones, tablets and other consumer devices; interactive and electrochromic displays; biomedical sensors; printed keypads and other industrial membrane switch controls; radio-frequency identification tags; and other products that require printed circuitry. Royal DSM has built a new plant at the Chemelot site in Geleen, the Netherlands, to manufacture its KhepriCoat antireflective glass coating, an IP-protected product primarily targeted at solar applications. The coating—a thin, nano-porous layer with a thickness of approximately 100-150 nm—is applied on the cover glass of solar modules to reduce the reflection of sunlight. 10 JUNE 2013 Acme Manufacturing Co. has appointed Adam Norris director of business development-Europe. Norris has spent more than 30 years developing automation and cost-effective solutions in manufacturing and the machine tool industry, and has an extensive background incorporating this technology for metal finishing applications. Enthone Inc. has named Henri Sep vice president of global marketing for its performance coatings operations. Sep had been director of marketing for performance coatings in Europe. The company also has appointed Ron Bader as director of sales for North America. Bader had been with Dow Chemical as sales director for the Midwestern U.S. Axalta Powder Coatings (formerly DuPont Powder Coatings) has named Michael A. Wittenhagen as technical service manager. Wittenhagen most recently was with The Powder Coating Institute. David C. Wasz, president of B.L. Downey Co. LLC, has been elected to the Board of Directors of The Electrocoat Association. Datacolor has launched an enhanced website (industrial. datacolor.com/support) focused on providing customer support. The site features downloads, video tutorials and educational resources, as well as an "ask an expert" option that enables users to send questions directly to a specialist. The revamped website accompanies the company's new "Color Competence" webinar series hosted by Datacolor senior application specialists. Pavco Inc.'s HyProBlue, HyProTec, HyProCoat 320, HyProCoat 330 and SuperSeal Compliant Chemistry technologies have been approved by the Chrysler Group for use on zinc-plated, passivated fasteners, by specification PS-8814. Anodyne Inc. has been approved by the Boeing Co. to process parts for its C-17 military transport planes. Beverage can manufacturer Rexam PLC has named Henkel Corp. as its "Supplier of the Year" for the second year in a row. The company uses Henkel's Bonderite C-IC 740 E etch degreaser and Bonderite L-FM 290-E lubricant. General Motors recognized Siemens' Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software business unit with a 2012 Supplier of the Year award. This is the fifth time Siemens PLM Software has received the award and the third time in the last four years. PPG Industries was named a 2013 Automotive News PACE Award winner for its Andaro tint dispersions. This marks the ninth time PPG has received the award, which honors automotive suppliers' innovations in products, manufacturing processes and information technology.
