Partscleanin g Products Magnetic Filtration System Boosts Efficiency The Automag Compact fluid filtration system from Eclipse Magnetics features a high-intensity, automated magnetic filter designed to improve efficiency on small-to-medium-sized precision metal machining processes such as grinding, honing, milling or superfinishing. According to the company, this technology provides the time-saving efficiencies of automated cleaning but with reduced investment costs over other high-performance automated filtration systems. It also can be retrofitted seamlessly into existing machining processes. The Automag Compact system features a high-intensity magnetic circuit designed to extract potentially damaging ferrous particles (down to sub-micron size) from industrial fluids such as lubricants and coolants. This results in improved surface finish, reduced product rejects, increased fluid lifespan, reduced downtime and extended tool life, the company says. The automated cleaning function is designed to save maintenance time and ensures that production is not interrupted. A timed signal activates the cleaning process, the magnetic rods are withdrawn from the filter chambers, and the ferrous contamination is purged to a tank or reclaim unit. The whole process takes approximately 10 sec, the company says. An optional Eclipse skid fluid recovery system can ensure that the cleaned fluid is returned straight to the process.
